Alpenglow Extracts, founded by professional snowboarder and cannabis connoisseur, Nathan Lind, is more than just the run-of-the-mill budding cannabis operation—it’s a passion project inspired by the thrill of the slopes, an admiration for the outdoors and, as we hope you might have guessed, copious amounts of weed. Lind credits his company’s appeal to the selective partnerships he’s carved out with leaders in the cultivation sector in Washington state.  It’s not unusual for pro-athletes to get into marijuana, but it is uncommon for an athlete to heed the cannabis calling while shredding the pow. That’s precisely where Lind experienced his eureka…

Though the Summer of 2023 has been flush with great musical events, from jam band farewells to EDM gatherings, there has also been the unfortunate reality of drug-related police activity resulting in numerous arrests and large amounts of party favors confiscated.  Much of this article will be centered around one particular locale where some of the drug busts—along with one tragic mass shooting—took place: the idyllic Gorge Amphitheatre in Grant County, Washington, a legendary venue situated on the banks of the Columbia River in the eastern part of the state.  The Gorge was the site of the most recent music…

Shady producers of delta-8 THC, the popular synthetic form of marijuana made from hemp-derived CBD, are crying the blues as states ramp up their attempts to protect children from the psychoactive products. The proliferation of CBD itself was not accounted for when hemp was legalized as a result of the 2018 Farm Bill, which failed to anticipate the development of a thriving extract market by producers who took advantage of the loophole. As the CBD market boomed and then crashed quickly in the wake of the Farm Bill’s passage, producers still surviving in the lingering downturn found a market among…

Foster parents in Missouri can now legally possess and grow marijuana in their homes under an emergency rule filed last week by the state Department of Social Services. Consuming cannabis in a manner that emits smoke or vapor, however, is still not allowed inside the house. Missouri voters in November 2022 passed a ballot initiative, Amendment 3, to legalize and regulate marijuana for adults 21 and older, allowing the purchase and possession of up to three ounces of cannabis and, after registering, the growth of up to six mature plants for personal use. But until Monday, the foster parents of…

By Dick Bell The battle lines over solar power are still being joined, and the struggle is a confusing array of the weak and the powerful, of shifting alliances and contradictory objectives and, most importantly, of the swirling together of two quite distinct revolutions, one technical and the other political. Is solar simply another energy technology, to be plugged into the existing network of multi-national energy companies? Or will solar provide a wedge that social activists can use to transform society, creating a world in which people control the forces that shape their lives? There is little doubt that we…

A coalition of religious leaders has come out in support of a Philadelphia-based nonprofit that’s seeking to establish a safe drug consumption facility, asking a federal court to reject the federal government’s request to dismiss a lawsuit about the harm reduction effort. In an amicus filed with the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania on Friday, 35 Christian and Jewish faith leaders from 19 states asserted that the nonprofit Safehouse should be allowed to open an overdose prevention site as a religious right. That is, while the Justice Department has cited statute prohibiting facilities that allow illicit…

Everybody goes crazy for 7/10 now, just like they do for 4/20, but this one seems to be hitting its commercial stride far faster than our OG holiday did. If I could show you the amount of pitches I got for distillate vapes or edibles this year (because they’re made with oil, right?! idiots) you may lose hope in what we’re doing here. It was honestly depressing. But fret not young padawans, because I cut out the bullshit, and just like last year I waited until the hype died down a bit to remind you that we’re always here, and…

Innovations in functional glass date back decades. Long ago smokers discovered that glass didn’t get as hot as metal and didn’t burn their fingers when a flame was applied. The double chamber tube bong, arguably the first “percolator,” arrived at the scene in 1979. During the ’80s, colored glass techniques and spoon pipes started gaining popularity. Glass development continued to grow in the ’90s with ice catchers and the beginnings of water filtration and diffusion, usually with the goal to cool down the temperature of smoke and vapor. Black Market Glass was founded in 2011 in Portland, Oregon the same…

“We just want to reverse course, put things on a better track so that it avoids the problems.” By Alander Rocha, Alabama Reflector A Montgomery County Circuit Judge Thursday dismissed a motion from the Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission (AMCC) to lift a temporary restraining order and postpone next week’s preliminary hearing on AMCC’s alleged Open Meetings Act violations. Judge James Anderson did not provide reasons for dismissing the motion but said to the defendant and plaintiffs that if there is “anything y’all can agree on,” to let him know before the next hearing. Anderson then ended the hearing and walked…

Top officials in the Bahamas have announced a legislative package that would legalize marijuana for medical, religious and research purposes. Personal possession of small amounts of cannabis would also be decriminalized, and past convictions for simple possession would be expunged. Together, the suite of bills would establish a local framework for marijuana production and, according to the government, “ensure a well-regulated, safe and controlled cannabis industry.” Attorney General Ryan Pinder and Health and Wellness Minister Michael Darville announced the proposed reforms during the Office of the Prime Minister’s weekly press briefing on Thursday. Pinder said he’d like to have the…
