The U.S. Food & Drug Administration’s (FDA) failure to regulate CBD leaves the door open for nefarious business operators, and threatens consumers’ health, the chairman of a key congressional committee has warned the agency. In a letter last week, Rep. James Comer, a Kentucky Republican who is Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, criticized the FDA’s announcement earlier this year that declared federal safety standards are insufficient to manage the CBD industry. The agency said not enough is known about CBD products to regulate them as foods or supplements under the FDA’s current structure, and called on…
The governor of Delaware says that he will allow a pair of bills to legalize marijuana possession and establish a regulated adult-use market become law without his signature. But in a welcome surprise to supporters, he said on Friday that he would let HB 1 and HB 2 go into effect—albeit without his active support. That means Delaware, which is nicknamed “The First State,” will become the 22nd state in the U.S. to legalize recreational cannabis. Carney, who previously declined to…
The pieces are coming together for Oregon’s psilocybin services program, with regulators announcing on Friday that they’ve approved the first state-licensed testing laboratory for the psychedelic. The license is going to Rose City Laboratories, LLC, the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) said. “Laboratory testing ensures the safety of psilocybin products, and accurate labeling of psilocybin potency allows clients to participate in administration sessions with products that meet their needs,” Oregon Psilocybin Services (OPS) Section Manager Angie Allbee said in a press release. This development comes days after the OHA accepted the nation’s first state-licensed facilitators to administer psilocybin to adults at…

Overall, the bill seeks to set up regulations for a psychedelics legalization law that voters passed at the ballot last year, largely focusing on rules for using the substances in licensed healing centers under the guidance of facilitators. The proposal has received mixed feedback from advocates and stakeholders so far—including in hours…

The Camden man thought his drive-through dispensary would be open by now, but it took 13 months to get the state to OK his application—approval he received just last week. In the meantime, he is nearly finished with construction, has hired nine employees and has spent thousands on electricity…
Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) says that lawmakers are working to “resurrect” a package of marijuana reform legislation from last session, acknowledging that failure to advance a banking fix for the industry “literally means that hundreds of businesses go out of business.” Advocates with the non-profit Minorities for Medical Marijuana (MMM) approached Booker following a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on unrelated issues on Thursday, urging the senator to push for passage of the Secure and Fair Enforcement (SAFE) Banking Act to free up financial services for cannabis entrepreneurs. Thank you Senator @CoryBooker for listening and hearing our ask. Together we can…
