Many people met their first lady dealer in High Times #1, when we interviewed “Lynne,” a young New York City artist whose frank statements on dope, dealing and sexism caused a flurry of letters to the editor and, apparently, considerable controversy in households and dealing pads across the country. The Department of Justice on Friday launched an application form that people who were covered under President Joe Biden’s mass marijuana pardon can fill out to demonstrate that they were granted clemency. In October, Biden issued a proclamation granting a pardon to people who have committed cannabis possession offenses under federal law and in Washington, D.C. The relief was automatic, but advocates have pushed officials to provide an application that people can use to obtain certificates showing they are covered. Wyoming organizers behind two proposed cannabis ballot measures—one to legalize medical marijuana and another to decriminalize possession of small amounts of cannabis—say the would-be initiatives have failed to qualify for the state’s 2024 ballot. Despite the failure to qualify the would-be initiatives for next year’s ballot, organizers said in…

Today, all I heard were opponents against it, who were spouting a lot of reefer madness and a lot of misinformation, really prone to hyperbole in such a way that it was truly offensive.”  During a second round of testimony about medical marijuana, opponents spoke of cannabis-induced suicides, marijuana poisoning and spiking crime rates, in what some have called a blatant attempt at halting the legislation. At the start of the Thursday meeting of the Senate Federal and State Affairs Committee, one of the audience members, an anti-abortion lobbyist, introduced a new…

A Maryland House of Delegates committee has advanced an amended bill containing proposed rules for legal marijuana sales and production in the state, a policy change approved by nearly two-thirds of voters through a ballot referendum last year. The measure is intended to prepare Maryland to regulate cannabis commerce as the new state law, which will allow adults to possess up to 1.5 ounces of marijuana and two grow plants at home for personal use on July 1. Before approving the bill at a hearing Thursday evening, the House Economic Matters Committee adopted dozens of changes in a lengthy reprint…
