The drug company behind the CBD-based medication Epidiolex has filed a lawsuit against more than a dozen competitors that are seeking to create generic versions, alleging patent infringement. GW Research Ltd, which along with GW Pharmaceuticals is a subsidiary of Jazz Pharmaceuticals, filed the suit. Minnesota lawmakers have unveiled a marijuana legalization bill and announced next steps to advance the reform in the 2023 legislative session. Colorado officials are looking for people to join a first-of-its-kind advisory board tasked with informing the implementation of psychedelics legalization following voter approval of a reform initiative on the November ballot. The state Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) is promoting a webpage where people can fill out applications to be considered for appointment on the Natural Medicine Advisory Board. The governor of Ohio has signed a major criminal justice reform bill that will let cities facilitate mass expungements for people with certain drug-related convictions, including marijuana possession of up to 200 grams, while also protecting people from getting criminal records for possessing cannabis paraphernalia. Oregonians are one step closer to legally consuming magic mushrooms. Oregon Psilocybin Services (OPS), the government agency in charge of creating a framework for the regulation of magic mushrooms in Oregon, is now accepting applications for licenses to legally grow, test, and facilitate the consumption of psilocybin, the active compound in magic mushrooms. OPS finalized its rules on how psilocybin mushrooms will be regulated on December 31, two years after Oregon voters passed Measure 109 in Nov. 2020, becoming the first state to legalize psilocybin.
