The governor of Connecticut announced on Tuesday that the state will be automatically clearing records of low-level marijuana records for thousands of people at the beginning of the new year. Gov. Ned Lamont (D) said that the state has identified about 44,000 eligible possession cases that will be processed automatically at the beginning of the year under a provision of the cannabis legalization bill he signed last year. Meanwhile, his office said that people with a wider range of minor convictions on their records will be able to petition courts for record-sealing under separate reform legislation will that was enacted…

The Colombian Senate has overwhelmingly approved a bill to legalize marijuana nationwide, though there are still more legislative steps that need to be taken before it’s potentially enacted into law. The bill, which has also already received initial approval in the country’s Chamber of Representatives, was approved on the Senate floor during the fourth round of debate on Tuesday in a 56-3 vote.
The Massachusetts Department of Agriculture Resources (MDAR) changed its “Pesticide Use of Marijuana Policy” to allow the use of certain pesticides on cannabis plants if specific requirements are met. When Massachusetts legalized adult-use cannabis in 2017 (following Question 4’s passage in the 2016 election), the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) “did not allow the use of a registered pesticide on cannabis or hemp because there were no products labeled for such use.” Therefore, Massachusetts prohibited the use of pesticides on cannabis or hemp, MDAR explained in a recent policy memo.Following passage of the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018 (the 2018…
We recently wrote about the re-emergence of the legacy weed brand Champelli, for which San Francisco’s Chronic Culture produced an elaborate 5-course Italian dinner for about 40 guests, served with hash-hole joints worth over $100. Champelli’s strain Cassis was infused into salt served with the meal. Neil Dellacava of Chronic Culture says that events that curate weed and dining are nothing entirely new, citing for example the Cannaisseur Series by Chef Coreen Carroll, which has been running and focusing on culinary and cannabis curated events since 2015, according to their website. That said, Dellacava sees an uptick in weed related…
Hemp-derived THC edibles in Minnesota have been legal for adults 21 and older since July 1, but one manufacturer and two of its retail facilities may be going beyond what the law permits. The Minnesota Board of Pharmacy filed a civil lawsuit Dec. 5 in Clay County District Court alleging that Moorhead-based Northland Vapor Co. and its dispensaries in Moorhead and Bemidji are in violation of potency limits. Under the law, an “edible cannabinoid product” cannot contain more than 5 milligrams of any hemp-derived THC in a single serving and no more than a total of 50 milligrams per package.…
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) sharply criticized Democrats on Tuesday for seeking to include marijuana banking reform and other “pet priorities” in a large-scale defense bill. While the text of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) has not yet been posted, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and a bipartisan group of lawmakers have been pushing to include language from the Secure and Fair Enforcement (SAFE) Banking Act, and possibly additional cannabis reforms. McConnell said Democrats should have used their majorities to move that legislation on a standalone basis outside of the defense legislation if they wished to enact…
Well I missed November, but it’s been a crazy month so bear with me. This one’s stacked with all the gems I found during Biz Con… only kidding. The best part about that event was our afterparty with Meth & Red at Brooklyn Bowl, and that wasn’t even official. Y’all know we know how to get down, even at a suit conference. Worth noting that our event and Jimi’s Heat Quest were the only two events I enjoyed period, so we’ll see if I’ll even do the Vegas marathon again next year. I do hope all your time in Vegas…
