Apple Lets Users Search For Marijuana And Pharmaceutical Interactions In Latest iPhone Health Update
The latest version of Apple’s iPhone software gives users an option to track medications and learn about possible drug interactions with other substances—including marijuana. As the cannabis legalization movement has evolved, the technology giant has been gradually revising policies over the years that generally align with the normalization of cannabis. The latest example is the iOS 16 update to Apple’s Health app. Users can tell the Health app if they use alcohol, cannabis or tobacco to search for “potential interactions between medications on your list.” A footnote on Apple’s press release about the Health app update last week says that…

Edible forms of cannabis, including gummies, mints, brownies, cookies, tinctures, drinks, and other food products, are discreet and can produce long-lasting, safe effects. They’re great when consumed responsibly, and when you know how much you’re consuming. But edibles can lead you down an unpredictable path if you’re not careful, so it’s important to know what kind of experience you want to have. Eating too much cannabis isn’t going to hurt your body, but unwanted or unpleasant effects from edibles can be avoided if you know the dose of the product and what dose of edible works best for you. Edibles…

Being aware of the breath and regulating it can harness the transformative power of mindful breathing. For some, pairing breathwork with cannabis can lead to a deep awareness of the body, while for others it can kickstart a journey akin to a DMT trip. “Breath work by itself is therapeutic for many of the same reasons people consume cannabis—PTSD, anxiety, insomnia or pain and inflammation,” said Dr. Simi Kaur Burns PharmD, cannabis pharmacist and yoga teacher. “Cannabis helps some people slow down, stay present in the moment, and experience heightened sensory or emotional awareness—all of which support breathwork.” Learn more…
Minnesota lawmakers are expected to eventually address rules that inadvertently made the state a hotbed for hemp-derived delta-8 THC edibles as a result of a measure passed earlier this year. The measure, which took effect in July, has unintentionally created a shadow recreational cannabis market despite laws that restrict the sale of products that contain high levels of THC to the state’s medical marijuana program. Stakeholders and attorneys in the state have said regulatory updates regarding THC in food can be expected during next year’s legislative session, including those addressing hemp-derived products. Maryland voters on Election Day approved a Legislature-backed ballot question to legalize cannabis for adult use, according to New York Times election results with 82% of the vote counted. Voters handily backed the measure by a 65.5%-34.5% margin. Polling prior to Tuesday’s vote had repeatedly found strong support for the reforms, with an October poll from the Washington Post and the University of Maryland gauging support at 74%. Unlike most citizen-backed initiatives, Maryland’s adult-use question was proposed by state lawmakers and gives the Legislature the green light to set up the industry. The approval by voters triggers some cannabis-related…
