Minnesota lawmakers are expected to eventually address rules that inadvertently made the state a hotbed for hemp-derived delta-8 THC edibles as a result of a measure passed earlier this year. The measure, which took effect in July, has unintentionally created a shadow recreational cannabis market despite laws that restrict the sale of products that contain high levels of THC to the state’s medical marijuana program. Maryland voters on Election Day approved a Legislature-backed ballot question to legalize cannabis for adult use, according to New York Times election results with 82% of the vote counted. Voters handily backed the measure by a 65.5%-34.5% margin.    Polling prior to Tuesday’s vote had repeatedly found strong support for the reforms, with an October poll from the Washington Post and the University of Maryland gauging support at 74%.   Unlike most citizen-backed initiatives, Maryland’s adult-use question was proposed by state lawmakers and gives the Legislature the green light to set up the industry. Nevada marijuana regulators say they received 100 applications for the state’s first-ever marijuana consumption lounge licenses during a short submission window last month, with plans to begin issuing approvals in “early 2023.” The Nevada Cannabis Compliance Board (CCB) started accepting the applications on October 14 and closed submissions on October 27.
